Athletic made hard work of this game, but the win confirmed they will finish in runners up or 3rd position.

Athletic have therefore finished higher than last seasons 4th and with 6 more points than last season- definate improvement and will be looking for promotion this season.

In a scrappy game Athletic just couldn't get going, and Wickham took the lead mid way through the first half.

Athletic battled, but Wickhams keeper was in fine form with some great saves.

Eventually the breakthrough came with Rhys Whittle equalising, just before half time.

Just as it seemed Athletic were going to play Wickham scored again to take a 2-1 half time lead.

Athletic were fired up for the second half and after Bryan Obonyo had a goal disallowed for offside, Joshua Scott equalised with a rasping shot.

Athletic pressed but Wickham looked dangerous on the counter attack, but Man of the Match Jeffrey Dankwa had a superb game to deny Wickhams centre forward many possible scoring chances.

Athletic won the game in the dying minutes when Joel Nesbeth rounded the keeper to score.

Manager Paul Standen was not there, but the lads dedicated their win to him.
