Glebe Tigers 2 vs Croydon Athletic 2 Under 10a

Tandridge League B Division 16.3.08

Athletic remained top of the table with a well– deserved draw against a good Glebe side. The weather conditions were poor and the game was played on a heavy pitch in wet and windy conditions. Glebe grabbed an early goal after some early pressure on the Croydon defence. After that Croydon dominated but despite many attempts they were unable to find an equaliser due to poor finishing.

The score remained 1-0 going into the second half.

Once again, Croydon piled on the pressure but their boys seemed to have left their shooting boots at home. Glebe scored a second goal on the counter attack and the score clearly did not reflect the game.

Croydon finally pulled a goal back which was scored by Rex Cobham following a Tarik Maizi cross. The team showed grit and determination and despite some dubious decisions from the referee and an injury to Jason Akioutou, they grabbed an equaliser with 3 minutes left on the clock. Jamel Johnson played a fine pass through to Rex Cobham who controlled the ball and placed a powerful shot into the bottom corner.

Croydon almost got a winner but were denied by a strong Glebe defence. The Croydon boys showed character today. William, Ryan, Rex, Jamel, Tarik, Jason, Ross, Shaun and Samuel played their hearts and souls out today and finished like they just come out of a mud bath.
