TANDRIDGE LEAGUE UNDER 14 CENTRAL DIVISION 16.3.08

SELSDON JUNIOR EAGLES 0 CROYDON ATHLETIC B 4

Athletic powered into the top three with a resounding win in atrocious conditions.

On a pitch ravaged by the rain Athletic started brightly and soon scored when Imran Salim headed in a free-kick.

Playing against the wind in the first half, Athletic had the better of the half although Selsdon always looked dangerous on the break, with keeper Stewart Sutton having a fine game, making three good saves, before Bryan Obonyeo scored a fine solo second goal.

Josh Galloway, who had made the second goal with a beautiful flick, then scored a third before half-time.

Joel Nesbeth almost added another with a spectacular overhead kick, which he just failed to connect to.

The second half saw many errors, mainly due to the deterioration of the pitch conditions.

Jeffrey Dankwa, Jordan Heath-Joseph, and Luke Wilson were again superb in defence and when when Selson did threaten both Josh Galloway and Reis Yildiz made goalline clearances to keep the score at 3-0.

Joel Nesbeth then hit the post following a scramble and Rhys Whittle was always a problem to the Selsdon defence, before Bryan Obonyeo scored his second goal to seal a fine 4-0 win.

This fine win sees Athletic storm into the top three, and with the top five with games to play against each other, the League title is not out of the question, but second place is a more realistic target, provided Athletic can continue this superb form.
